Rubber Stamp Ink
There are many different types of inks used for rubber stamping. First you start with basic oil-based and water-based, multiplied by all the different colors available - that's for starters. Then there's specialty rubber stamp ink designed for use on different textured surfaces, or for use in different environmental conditions. Following are some examples:
Ink for self-inking stamps is quite basic - you get various colors (but only ever one color per stamp) and they use water-based ink. A self-inking stamp is the one that has a special mount that has a built-in ink pad and spring mechanism that automatically re-inks the die between impressions. The rubber stamp flips up and down against an ink pad with each impression made.
A pre-inked rubber stamp holds water-based ink within its own ink-saturated die. There is no ink pad which flips up and down like a self-inker. The benefits of pre-ink rubber stamps are that larger sizes are available, and better overall image quality
All Purpose Permanent Ink leaves a permanent crisp impression on most porous and non-porous surfaces. All Purpose Permanent Ink is recommended for the following surfaces: plastic, wood, coated paper, coatings, metals, photos, fabrics, as well as many other surfaces. Inked impressions will dry within 20 seconds. A reconditioner is provided to rejuvenate pad when solvents evaporate.
Photo Marking Ink leaves a permanent stamped impression on photos. The impression will dry within 30 seconds. This ink will leave a permanent mark on many other porous and non porous surfaces. A reconditioner is provided to rejuvenate pad when solvents evaporate.
Fabric Marking Ink leaves a permanent stamped impression on most fabrics. The impression will dry almost instantly on absorbent surfaces. For best results wait 24 hours before washing. A reconditioner is provided to rejuvenate pad when solvents evaporate.
